Development of plan for ambulatory services and facilities allows for smart strategic decision making
Through the use of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, HPP developed a strategic plan which serves as a roadmap for Winona Health’s development of ambulatory services and facilities.
HPP facilitated collaborative group Lean activities with Winona Health ambulatory staff. They focused on development of a strategy for the appropriate use of three existing facilities and the potential of a fourth facility (a collaboration with the local YMCA) for the delivery of ambulatory services to the Winona Health community. Through implementation of its recommendations, the strategic plan is intended to improve workflow, improve space and facility utilization, increase productivity and create a true destination for patients and staff.
Our team’s recommendation created the important connections, pathways, and healing environment which compel an excellent patient experience.
Through our findings, primary care and specialty care services become aligned and mindfully co-located. Through the upgrade of one of the existing office buildings, the main Winona Health campus becomes balanced and campus services are both showcased and kept discreet where appropriate. Retail services are better integrated into high traffic locations, increasing visibility and marketing opportunities. Way-finding is simplified. Redundancies are eliminated.
HPP identified space available for growth of existing as well as development of new services, significant departmental expansion capabilities and diversity options because of an abundance of under-utilized space. There is a focus on wellness and prevention with YMCA connections, and a center for innovation for services of the future. Space was identified for simulations to create and test new innovative ideas.
